Ever since our founding in 1878, we have thrived thanks to the support and cooperation of stakeholders including shareholders, suppliers, and local communities. The foundation of our activities has been a spirit carried on since Ashimori began: Be creative and contribute to society through our business.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the cotton ropes for power transmission that we made were highly prized by major spinning companies at the time as indispensable products for operation. We have gone on to produce many products that contribute to society—even before the world thought much about issues such as the environment and corporate social responsibility. These products include amazingly lightweight, leak-proof fire hoses, seatbelts and airbags for automobiles that greatly improve driving safety, and PALTEM pipeline rehabilitation methods, which dramatically reduce the environmental impact compared to conventional road surface excavation methods. Our goals for producing such products today tie in with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) championed by the international community in recent years.
Officers and employees of Ashimori and its group companies are working harder than ever towards sustainability, a key management issue today. This is because sustainability is demanded by our stakeholders and all of society, and because it is crucial for the Ashimori Group to survive and thrive into the future.
More and more companies and public entities in Japan are vowing to work towards achieving net zero CO2 emissions by 2050 amidst the Japanese government’s 2050 carbon neutrality declaration. With our central operations in the fields of safety and renewal, which include automotive safety components and lifeline infrastructure rehabilitation, we will continue to put into practice our spirit to be creative and contribute to society through our business. We will do this by working with the group companies to realize a sustainable society and grow in unison with society by creating value over the long term.
