President’s Message

Contributing to Sustainable societies

Since our founding in 1878, we have been utilizing and developing our core technologies fostered in our original business area of textiles, and have developed numerous products and systems. With our corporate creed of “Be creative and contribute to society through our business activities” and our mission to “Provide products that protect lives and livelihoods,” we have carried out business activities over our long history in a way that is consistent with today’s sustainability- and CSV-focused management.

Company founder Ashimori Buhei believed that cotton yarn was a key to industrial advancement and a product sure to be in even greater demand. He became the first in Japan to succeed in the domestic production of cotton power generation ropes, thereby contributing to the modernization of the Japanese spinning industry. Following the Second World War, the company diversified its business, and we were the first company in Japan to make developments such as latex rubber-lined fire hoses and PALTEM pipeline rehabilitation for gas piping and the like.

The PALTEM pipeline rehabilitation method, which we successfully developed in 1980 is a trenchless method that we developed by utilizing our proprietary technologies fostered in textiles and fire hoses. We developed PALTEM long before aging infrastructure emerged as a problem in Japan. It has grown to be widely adopted in various fields, such as sewerage, water supply, agriculture, and gas thanks to its environmentally friendly trenchless technique.

In recent years, we have been tackling the development of products and systems according to the needs of the times. These include manufacture and sales of disaster prevention materials and equipment for providing recovery in response to natural disasters caused by abnormal weather. We are also expanding sales of labor-saving logistics systems to address the so-called 2024 problem in the logistics industry.

We are welcoming an era of major reforms in the automotive industry, and it is thought that there will continue to be expansion of the electrification of vehicles and self-driving. We will continue activities that focus on eliminating fatalities due to traffic accidents. We will do this by focusing management resources on the development of next-generation safety systems for self-driving vehicles.

The realization of a safe and abundant society requires that all our executives and employees, including those in our group companies, both inside and outside Japan take even further efforts than before to tackle the currently important management issue of sustainability. We feel that is the purpose of the existence of the Ashimori Group.

We thank you for the trust you’ve placed in Ashimori.
